Dear Parents and Carers,
As you are aware, the breakfast and after school club formerly run by the Factory are being brought under Newington Green school management from January 2016.
Subsequently, in September, Islington Council requested quotes from organisations to provide subsidised holiday childcare, but unfortunately was not able to confirm a provider as the required standards were not met. The council is now in the process of seeking further applications for this provision and should be able to confirm in January who will run the holiday childcare.
It is unlikely, however, that a new provider will be able to deliver holiday childcare from Newington Green Primary School in February half-term as there will be a number of processes, such as Ofsted registration, to undertake. Therefore, we want to give parents as much notice as possible in order that alternative arrangements for half-term can be made for parents who need it.
The council’s Family Information Service has begun to liaise with other nearby childcare providers and the local adventure playground to find good value potential places for February half-term so that there is an offer of holiday childcare available for parents despite this delay in confirming the new provider.
To help further, the Family Information Service (FIS) will hold two surgeries in January to help parents find the childcare that meets their needs:
- Wednesday 13 January, 6pm, at Newington Green Primary School
- Tuesday 19 January, 6pm, at St Jude’s and St Paul’s Primary School
Parents can also contact the FIS directly for assistance:

We appreciate that this delay in confirming the new holiday provider is inconvenient for parents, and the council has been clear that this is not a decision it has taken lightly.
